Over 50 years of surveying experience
Lamb & Associates was founded in 1970 by Gordon Lamb and has operated from Bush Road, Albany since 1997. In 2018, the business was purchased by Colin and Carol Beddow, continuing the strong reputation the company has built over decades of trusted service.
Colin had already worked with the business for more than 23 years before taking ownership, bringing continuity, deep local knowledge and extensive practical experience to the next chapter of the company.
Today, we continue to support clients throughout Auckland and surrounding areas with modern surveying solutions backed by long-standing expertise.
Colin Beddow – Director / Senior Surveyor
With decades of experience in land surveying and land development consultancy, Colin brings a practical, hands-on approach to every project and remains actively involved both in the office and out in the field. He studied Land Surveying at Unitec and has built a strong reputation for subdivision design, boundary definition, project management and helping clients navigate complex surveying and council processes with confidence. Colin is particularly motivated by seeing projects progress from the initial concept stage through to successful completion.
Outside of work, Colin is passionate about conservation and the outdoors. He has contributed many years to kiwi protection initiatives, enjoys hunting, and is also a keen motorsport enthusiast with a particular interest in rally cars.
Chris Hull – Survey Technician
Chris joined Lamb & Associates in March 1999 and is a highly valued member of the surveying team. He studied Land Surveying at Unitec from 1997 to 1998 and has developed extensive technical expertise across a wide range of surveying projects. He specialises in topographical data collection using GPS and Total Station equipment, helping deliver accurate, reliable site information for design, development and construction projects. Chris enjoys working directly with clients and sharing his experience in an area that can often seem complicated or unfamiliar.
Outside of work, Chris has an energetic young family and enjoys classic cars and motorcycles.
Carol Beddow – Administration / Project Support
Carol is a co-owner of Lamb & Associates and plays a vital role in the smooth day-to-day running of the business. She manages administration, client communication and project coordination, helping ensure projects stay organised, efficient and on track from first enquiry through to completion. Her strong organisational skills, attention to detail and commitment to client service make her an important part of the positive experience clients have when working with Lamb & Associates.
Alongside Colin, Carol has also contributed many years of voluntary service to kiwi conservation and is actively involved in environmental restoration through the Mangatu Wilderness Project.

Community and conservation commitment
Outside of surveying work, Colin and Carol have contributed more than 12 years of voluntary service to kiwi conservation through Kaipara Kiwi.
Both are accredited kiwi handlers with hands-on experience in wildlife management. They also lead the Mangatu Wilderness Project, focused on restoring land to native bush and protecting indigenous flora and fauna. It reflects the same long-term care, responsibility and stewardship we value in our work.
